Would a 2000 Toyota Celica GT need a new engine?

It has 152,000 miles. Its a manual 6-spd, 4-Cyl, 1.8 liter, FWD. My friend says I would probably need to replace to engine in it. Is this correct? Are there other things that would need to be replaced?
