Can weed make you tripp like crazy?

okay ive smoked before but never heavy just enough to get me buzzed. i took a deep *** waterfall were i thought i was goina die lol. in just a little while i was tripping ! my friends said i was constantly shaking an moaning an just trippen out. it felt like a dream everything was like pulsing an very slow an i cept gettin these warm feelings an then cold. i just wanted it it out of my system i was scared as **** it didnt feel real at all an it took like forever to end. idk but could this have been from weed? some ppl think it was laces but idkk man :/
