Why does the concentration of glucose solution affect the rate of osmosis-m of potato?
so, osmosis is where water move from a higher concentration to a lower concentration through a partially permeable membrane. In this case the membrane is the cell membrane. When there is a high concentration of glucose in the water surrounding the potato the concerntration of water molecules is lower. When the concentration of water is lower outside the cell then there is a net (overall) movement of water outside the cell into the surrounding glucose solution. Eventually the concerations level out and there is no net movement of water. The decrease in the m of the potato is cause by the loss of water from the potato cells.
